The Old Grain Store, Great Wymondley

Originally the site of an old derelict grain store, farmyard and stable building.  The site was outside the confines of the village boundary, but a housing needs survey identified that there was a demand for genuine affordable housing.  The land was owned by Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation, so once again we developed a scheme in conjunction with the Heritage Foundation and Jephson Homes Housing Association.  We respected the sensitive location of the site, on the edge of the village and in the conservation area, by developing an affordable housing scheme and design that was in keeping with the surroundings.  This resulted in a very attractive row of two terraces of three cottages, with stunning views to the front and rear over open countryside.  As part of the scheme we also provided new stabling in a nearby field to replace the stabling that was originally present on this site.

At the post completion PR event, a member of the Parish Council was keen to let us know how pleased and impressed they were with the quality of the design and construction and that they would happily work with us again if the opportunity arose
